Good Evening Band/Guard Parents...
Hope you all are enjoying the good weather we've got...it's Texas, so it won't stay like this for long.
Got quite a bit of info to pass on this week.
Football Game - Game this week is on Thursday at Williams Stadium in Garland. We are visitor's, kick off is at 7pm. Hope to see you all there. I'm not sure the status of workers for the Spirit table this week, if you are able to help, please stop by the table on your way into the stadium and check with David or Michelle.
Band Trip Forms/Deposit - EACH and EVERY student is required to turn in a band trip form indicating if they are going or not going on the band trip this year. Forms are due to the director's by Friday. If the student is going on the trip, then a $100 deposit is required on Friday as well. We are offering multiple fundraisers throughout the year to help the students pay for this trip. If you are going on the trip as a chaperone, you will need to have a form and deposit turned in by Friday as well. All band trip questions should be addressed to the director's.
Mesquite Marching Contest - This Saturday is the first marching contest of the year. It will be held in the Mesquite Stadium located off 635 and Military Parkway. The students perform around 7:15/7:30pm...please try to attend to show your support for the students. There will be a good sized group of us down on the field to help with props, but we need a good show in the stands to cheer them on. The directors will provide a final schedule for the day later this week.
Tx/OU Concession Stand - The band boosters big fundraiser this Fall will be us working a concession stand at the Tx/Ou game on October 17th. If you did not sign up at the September booster meeting and are intersted in working please let us know. I have attached the "rules" that were given to my by the concession stand company. Please look these over very carefully for the "do's" and "don'ts"...they are sticklers for everything. A few highlights to point out...we must ALL be at the Cotton Bowl as a group no later than 6:30 AM that morning. It will be an 8 - 9 hour day of working. EVERYONE in the stand must wear a white shirt and black pants, no exceptions. We'll work out the details on the uniform over the next week.
And finally, October is a busy, busy month for the students (and us)...they really need our support this month with all of the performances and contests that they have worked so hard to compete in. We are so proud of them and the show they are doing this year....we just need to provide those words of encouragement when they need them the most. Hang in there parents...this month is what it's all about!!
If you have any questions, please feel free to hollar at us....We'll see you in the stands!!
Tim and Kelly
